Tiling tips

  • Before tiling, make sure your walls are clean and dry with any holes filled
  • Make sure you have the right adhesive and grout - ask advice when you buy
  • Always start in the middle of the wall and work your way to the edge
  • Use a knotched trowel to spread adhesive evenly over the wall
  • Wipe away any excessive grout while still damp using a clean wet cloth

  • Always measure out the floor before fixing
  • Make sure you have the right adhesive and grout - Ask advice when you buy
  • Start tiling in the middle, using full tiles, so all cuts are at the edge of the room
  • Spread the adhesive evenly over the floor, use 1 sqm at a time as it can dry quickly
  • Make sure you wipe any excess grout away while still damp using a clean damp cloth

Fixing mosaics

  • Ensure the area being tiled is dry and clean with any holes filled
  • Always make sure you have the right adhesive and grout - Ask advice when you buy
  • Spread the adhesive using a knotched trowl evenly over the wall
  • Press the mosaics into place using a rubber faced float to ensure they are level
  • Wipe away any excess adhesive that squeezes through the gaps straight away
  • Mosaics are best cut with tile nippers

Glass Tiles

  • Ensure the area to be tiled is dry and clean with any holes filled
  • Make sure you use the correct adhesive and grout - Ask advice when you buy
  • Spread adhesive evenly over the area to be tiled using a notched trowl
  • Spread a thin layer of white adhesive evenly over the back of each tile before fixing to ensure an even colour tone and adhesion to the wall
  • Wipe away any excess grout with a damp cloth while still damp

Natural Stone

  • Before fixing shuffle tiles from all boxes to get an even variation of colours
  • Apply one coat of sealer to the stone before fixing
  • Make sure you have the right adhesive and grout - Ask advice when you buy
  • Spread an even bed of adhesive to the wall/floor using a knotched trowel, use no more than 1 sqm at a time as it can harden quickly
  • Place the tiles on to the adhesive bed firmly, check levels as you go with a spirit level
  • Apply a secong coat of sealant when the tiles are grouted
